Over 6,300 people have applied to be a Garda under the recent recruitment competition. The 2024 competition was the first following the Government's decision to increase the entry age limit to apply to become a Garda trainee from 35 years to 50.

The Minister for Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform Paschal Donohoe TD has announced the expansion of the eligibility requirements to apply to civil service jobs. Potential candidates holding Stamp 4 visas will now be able to pursue civil servant roles in Government departments.

The Civil Service gender balance is better at senior management level, with data seen as key to continued advances across the public sector.

Today marks the official launch of our corporate strategy for 2023 to 2026, NUA26. The strategy was launched by our Board Chairperson Tom Moran alongside our CEO Margaret McCabe.
